Personally, I had a bad experience with these types of cables. 10 GPIO, every GPIO can be PWM, I2C, 1-wire.

I powered NodeMcu with external power bank,but I don't see correct output in Serial Monitor. In order to upload code to the ESP8266 and use the serial console, connect any data-capable micro USB cable to ESP8266 IOT Board and the other side to your computer’s USB port. Amica NodeMCU ESP8266MOD to Arduino IDE gives garbage / gibberish serial monitor output. I am using Serial1 port for debug communication. I brought a Adraxx ENTDEV019 ESP8266 NodeMcu WiFi Development Board.
